Privacy policy

Last updated: 20 April 2026

Editor note. This is generic UK GDPR / PECR boilerplate tailored to the integrations this site actually uses (Resend, Plausible, a consent-gated chatbot). Replace any specific clause with a solicitor-reviewed version before you treat this as legally binding, and update the controller contact if the email changes.

1. Who we are

Styling Touch provides property staging, furnishing and show-home design across the North West of the UK. In this policy, “we”, “us” and “our” refer to Styling Touch. When you contact us, request a quote, book a consultation or use this website, we act as the data controller for any personal data you provide.

For any questions about this policy, to exercise your rights, or to request a copy of the data we hold about you, email info@stylingtouch.co.uk.

2. What data we collect

We collect the minimum needed to reply to your enquiry and deliver our service:

  • Contact form and quote wizard. Name, email, phone (if you give one), property details, timelines and budget, plus anything you write in the free-text fields.
  • Booking. Name, email, phone, address or postcode of the property, preferred date and time.
  • Chat assistant.The messages you send and the replies our assistant generates, plus a session ID. Transcripts are retained so we can improve answer quality and audit for accuracy; we don’t link them to other records unless you identify yourself.
  • Analytics. Only if you accept the analytics consent. We use Plausible, which records page views and referrer but does not set tracking cookies, collect IP addresses, or build cross-site profiles.
  • Technical logs. Our hosting provider logs standard server data (IP, user-agent, request path, status) for security and capacity planning. These logs are retained for a short period and then rotated out.

3. Why we use it (lawful basis)

  • To reply to your enquiry and deliver the project. Lawful basis: performance of a contract (or steps requested by you prior to entering one).
  • To keep a record of our communications and invoices. Lawful basis: legal obligation (HMRC / accounting retention) and legitimate interest (operational history).
  • Analytics. Lawful basis: your consent, which you can withdraw at any time from the Manage cookies link in the footer.
  • Anti-spam screening. Contact messages are passed to Cleantalk for classification. Lawful basis: legitimate interest (protecting our inbox and clients).

4. Sharing and processors

We do not sell or rent personal data. We use a small set of trusted processors to operate the site and deliver the service:

  • Resend: transactional email delivery (confirmations, quote estimates, booking receipts).
  • Microsoft 365: calendar invites and Teams meetings for bookings.
  • Plausible (self-hosted community edition): anonymous, cookie-free analytics, only if you consent.
  • Cleantalk: spam screening on submitted messages.
  • OpenAI / Groq / OpenRouter (one selected at a time): the model that powers the chat assistant, only if you consent to chat and send a message. Prompts include retrieved snippets from our own published content, not your other records.
  • Hetzner / Azure and our hosting provider: infrastructure for this website and the site’s database.

5. How long we keep it

  • Quote requests and contact submissions: retained for up to 24 months, then reviewed and either deleted or pseudonymised.
  • Booking records and invoices: retained for 6 years in line with HMRC guidance.
  • Chat transcripts: retained for up to 12 months for quality review, then deleted.
  • Server logs: rotated out within 30 days.

6. Your rights

Under UK GDPR you have the right to:

  • access the personal data we hold about you and receive a copy;
  • ask us to correct any information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • ask us to delete your data where we no longer have a legal basis to keep it;
  • object to or restrict how we use it; and
  • ask to receive a portable copy.

Email info@stylingtouch.co.uk and we will respond within one month. If you believe we have mishandled your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (0303 123 1113).

7. Security

We use TLS on the website, encrypt sensitive integration secrets at rest, and limit access to your data to the small number of people needed to run the service. No system is perfectly secure, so we won’t promise zero risk, but we treat your data the way we’d want ours treated.

8. Changes to this policy

When we change this policy we update the “Last updated” date at the top. Material changes are summarised here as well.
